Wellbeing - Explorers - Floating Flowers

To complete this activity, you will need to complete both activities 1 and 2 in order.

Activity 1: Make a floating flower

In this activity, you will be practising the following skills:

  • using mark making tools and scissors safely and with control
  • focusing on a calming activity to help you feel relaxed

Below is a video showing you how to make the floating flowers. Here is a flower template you can use, if you'd prefer to print it rather than make your own as shown in the video.

Activity 2: Mindful observation of a floating flower

In this activity, you will be practising the following skills:

  • focusing on a calming activity to help you feel relaxed
  • breathing slowly and deeply to help you feel relaxed

Now you have made your flower or flowers, place them into water and watch them gradually open while listening to the relaxing music in the video below. What number can you slowly count to before all the petals are open? How many slow breaths can you take while your flower opens up? Try to really focus on the flower and nothing else while you breath deeply and calmly.
