Activity 1: Story Massage

Enjoy these 2 story massages using stokes on your back or on a teddy to celebrate Chinese New Year.

Activity 2: Colouring

Chinese New Year Mandalas and Colouring sheets to print off at home.

Put some relaxing music on and choose a max of 3 colours to enjoy colouring in with your family.

Are you going to start in the middle or choose a particular animal or shape to start with?

I like to lie down on my tummy in snake pose and have the colours in front of me.

Relax and enjoy having mindful moment. There are 5 to choose from… have fun!

Activity 3: Yoga

Let’s start with a breathing technique: Pick the orange

Sit or stand up tall. Breathe in and reach right arm across the body.
Imagine picking an orange high up from a tree towards the left, grab it.
Breathe out of your mouth, as you drop the orange an imaginary bucket to your right.
Repeat on the other side, then repeat 5 times on each side.

Now, let’s practice the yoga poses of the Chinese calendar, the 12 animals of the Chinese Zodiac Years.

Activity 4: Yoga Freeze

Have a look at this video to see how to play yoga freeze.

Try making your own version by dancing to your favourite music and then freezing in one of the 12 Chinese New Year poses (see flashcards below).
