AOIS Support Requests - all you need to know

Support Pathway Types available to you

  • General support requests encompass all queries not specific to an individual pupil's progress.
  • Targeted support is a bespoke package for an individual pupil.
  • You identify which of these you wish to pursue

  • However, should on review it be deemed necessary to revert to an alternative support pathway with AOIS or elsewhere we will discuss the reasons for this with you.
  • Examples of such changes to the original submission include, General Support Requests being converted to the Targeted Support Pathway. Support may be more appropriately provided by another Provider, such as The Grove or Foundry College. these are rare exceptions but can happen. If such a circumstance arises we would discuss this with you, the reasons for this and signpost you to the most appropriate course of action.

  • General support is any request not referring to an individual pupil's progress.
  • Examples include:  advice on inclusion / curriculum advice / in-reach visit request for sensory circuit support / in-reach visit request for TA support / PHSE social stories support / training requests or suggestions (if not already available).
  • We can offer support across a large breadth of subjects and have a wide ranging skill set to pull from here at Addington.
  • If in the unlikely event we are unable to proceed with supporting you with your request we would signpost you to alternative support measures more suited to the task.

  •  Process and Timescales

  • AOIS will contact you within 5 working days of a submission
  • Your specific requirements will be explored and then provision will be agreed on how this support will be delivered and the timescales in which that can happen.
  • As General support requests can differ wildly in terms of complexity, severity and urgency, there is no set rules which we can supply you with here other than to assure you we will adapt to your needs as best as we can in order to provide relevant and proportionate support.
  • Support can take many forms, from telephone calls to emails, inreach visits, outreach visits and much more besides, dependant on the requirements.

Additional Information

  • General Support & Targeted Support requests are free of charge to Wokingham Borough mainstream schools.
  • On rare occasions, if additional, specialist support is required following on from the completion of these requests, the need and the subsequent provision would be discussed in depth. Costs may be incurred for this provision. This would all be explored with you and agreement put in place for this to be carried out as needed.
  • AOIS provision is commissioned by Wokingham Inclusion Group for those in education in the Borough. However we may be able to offer support to schools outside the borough should the need arise and we are able to facilitate the requests. Costs may be incurred for this. This would all be discussed and agreed with you upon submission of any request.
